The Mella boot is the most angular thing in the collection. The toe is drawn long and narrow to a true western point, and the heel is cut on a slant — the traditional shape, which throws the weight forward and gives the walk its particular rhythm. Tonal stitching runs in a scrolled pattern up the shaft and across the vamp, worked close in colour so it reads as relief rather than decoration. Aveloire finishes it at the top of the calf with a slightly dipped topline, which is what keeps a boot this tall from looking rigid.
